Unit Stats

When hiring/creating a new unit you will see that 8 of the stats (they leave out SP) are shown on a "character sheet". These are ranked from F to A (Possibly S as I havent yet seen it get that high). The rank of the Stat represents how many points needs to be invested in it to gain a bonus point.

Example: STR at Rank F needs you to invest 8 points into it to gain +1 free point into it. To further illustrate this, consider STR rank B. Rank B needs 4 points to give a free bonus point. If you had 8 points to assign and you put them all in STR Rank B you will have a total of 10 STR since you earned 2 free points.

Also, it is important to note that Ranks for stats is randomly determined when the unit is generated for the "Hiring Roster". The Hiring Roster is simply the group of units that is generated when you choose the "Hire" option in the Policy section.

When hiring a new unit they have a starting amount of stat points to assign, this appears to be determined at random when the "Hiring Roster" is generated after every quest/exploration regardless of success or failure.

STR - This stat affects the "ATK" value of skills that inflict Melee-Type AND Range-Type damage. Melee-Type skills are Red. Range-Type skills are Green.

MAG - This stat affects the "ATK" value of skills that inflict Magic-Type damage. Magic-Type skills are Purple

TEC - This improves the experience gain of the unit, it also appears to affect the quality of the Skill "Guard". Note that the Guard skill blocks damage based on how much Action Bar was invested in it and TEC seems to strengthen it, however a Guard that is made out of zero or very little Action Bar will still drop after 1 hit.

VIT - Vitality improves the amount of Action Bar the unit recovers when their turn comes up, this is useful for classes that are capable of long combos. This can also be potentially useful for tank characters who use more Action Bar for their Guard skill.

STM - Improves the unit's Melee/Range damage reduction

SPI - Improves the unit's Magic damage reduction

AGI - The basic affect of this stat is to increase how much Movement Bar is recovered each turn which allows a unit to move farther in battle. "Quickness" is mentioned as well in the game's text. Observation of enemy buffs appears to manifest quickness as both how fast a unit moves on screen and perhaps may affect how often that unit gets to take their turn.

CON - Increases the unit's maximum HP

SP - As units level up they may potentially learn Support Skills (some of which may be completely useless on that class). These support skills cost SP to equip on the unit and this stat will increase the unit's max SP. Unfortunately, this stat is not displayed when hiring a new unit unless you go as far as customizing the unit and proceed to the stat point assignment.
